Black Honey
From Nancy Sinatra to Amy Winehouse and Elliott Smith...

Black Honey have always been about fusing light and shade, the sweet with the sour, the melody with the noise.

The band's precocious live shows were followed by a string of vital singles, before they decided to knuckle down and focus on a full length album.

The fruit of the quartet's combined labours arrive on Friday - September 21st - a blast of youthful aggression, pent up lust, and sublime melancholy.

A taut, virile piece of indie rock songwriting, Black Honey's debut album has a classic feel, but it's been left torn and tattered for a 2018 vantage point.

Nancy Sinatra - 'Bang Bang'

Nancy is my hero, I feel like this song is the only song that I’m always trying to write myself in some way.

Nirvana - 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'

This song spoke to me as a teenager and has basically been the soundtrack to my entire life on the road. Nirvana is the thread that ties Black Honey together. This song just makes me wanna sing and fight and fuck in one big collision.

Amy Winehouse - 'Back To Black'

Every day I miss Amy. We lived her pain, she was real in a world that felt so fake. I think there’s a dark fucked up diva in all of us deep down, Amy touched that in a way that we probably won’t experience again.

Elliott Smith - 'Between The Bars'

I love the way he can make the most meaningful story from such a raw and real sound. I love reading his work as poetry as well learning his chords.

Ennio Morricone - 'Once Upon A Time In The West (Main Theme'

Everything he does as a composer and artist seems to be a kind of blue print for everything I am trying to create in Black Honey. The emotion in the woman’s voice in this piece in particular blows my mind.
