Okay, so you’re already sick of any music coming out next week because you downloaded it illegally two months ago and have been listening to it every day since. So when it comes on the radio for the first time, you can arrogantly sing every word perfectly to the amazement of friends. The women flock to you like your some sort of tuneful messiah.
Or… not. Whatever: next week sees releases of various varieties: the over-hyped (Oasis), the distinctly under-hyped (The Vines), and the not hyped at all (Renfro). Many a hardcore Oasis fan will already be firing down to the stores on Monday for a physical copy of the tremendous new album, ‘Dig Out Your Soul’, but for those a little short in the pocket, the new Kaiser Chiefs single is an affordable blast of Brit-rock.
The long wait for some more Antony & The Johnsons material will finally conclude when new EP ‘Another World’ hits shops next week, whetting appetites for January’s new album. For those of a more trance disposition, mixing legends Liquid Liquid will be putting out their ‘Remixes EP’, accompanied by an array of guest DJs.
Debut albums from Those Dancing Days and the aforementioned Renfro are likely to be overshadowed by the bigger releases, but both repay their asking prices with grade A material. October has started how it means to go on, so fill up that CD rack! It’s not obsolete… yet.
