Highlyy Breaks Down Electrifying ‘+243’ Project
In one fell swoop Highlyy went from a virtual unknown to a bona fide internet star. Her song ‘Soldier’ erupted online, its instantly infectious beat matched to a pristine vocal, one that spun audiences around 360.
The 20-year-old hails from Essex but with Congolese heritage – a tri-lingual multi-faceted force to be reckoned with, she’s refusing to let the hype go to her head.
Out now, new project ‘+243’ finds Highlyy speaking her truth, a collection of songs born from real-life experience. Splicing together pop, R&B, afrobeats, amapiano, and more, it’s a release that serves notice on a talent to look out for.
As Highlyy puts it:
“I am so excited for my 1st EP to FINALLY be out! It feels so surreal – I’m actually living my dreams!”

honest
i was in the studio and we started of with the beat; changed it up a few times. whilst the beat was being made i was talking to a boy, a very toxic situation-ship. there’s always that person that you say you’re done with but keep running back to them. that song means everything to me because it’s so true.
peace
there was a situation with a guy. he went to a party and a girl i knew was at the same party. she ended up trying to talk to him and then she told me about it. “came to me as a woman” but it back fired because it was a lie. but it was too late because i went to the studio the next day to record the song. that song is so relatable because all i wanted was genuine love.
pressure
it’s a love song, it’s a fun and cool vibe. the type of song that you blast in your car when you’re in love. it’s giving ‘attached and never want to let go’. made it in the studio with JayO.
passion
it’s a love song but also a toxic song. made it in the studio too. it’s about a guy i like and i want things to work out with, almost like i’m his ride or die and i want him to take a chance on us. but he thinks it may be too much to handle… but he likes me and might give me a chance.
soldier
it’s my story, i wanted to pursue my dreams. it’s also a prayer that if things don’t work for me that hope it works for the people i care about. it’s also about believing in yourself and chasing your dreams. i made this song at 3am in my friends bedroom. the rest is history.
higher
it’s the next chapter of my life. motivation to myself to keep going and not let anything get to me. to keep pushing and reaching incredible heights that i’ve always dreamt off. i made this in the studio too!
