Australian garage rock outfit Girl and Girl have announced the release of ‘Fight Night’, a 5-track collection featuring reworked versions of songs from their 2023 EP ‘Divorce +’.
The EP memorialises the group’s experience recording at Melbourne’s Fight Night Records, established in 2015 by identical twins Harley & Delaney Stewart.
Coinciding with the release is a ‘Fight Night’ version of signature song ‘Strangers’, capturing the underground verve of the famed studio space. Girl and Girl’s frontperson, Kai James, says about the single and video: “For ‘Strangers’, we tried to bottle the feeling of a night out alone, the thrill that comes from meeting new people. It’s my favorite track to play live; people connect with it. I try my best cowboy dancing, and everyone’s stomping and shouting together. It’s a hoot.”
Girl and Girl are working on their full-length debut for Sub Pop, and have announced European shows this autumn, including an appearance at Pitchfork Music Festival in Paris on November 11th, as well as UK headline shows at the Sebright Arms.
