Over a decade since their debut release, Future Loop Foundation (AKA Mark Barrott) has evolved into one of Britain’s most intelligent dance acts.
‘The Fading Room’ features blessed out electronica interspersed with spoken word samples, taken from family interviews on an old tape a cousin of Barrott’s found in his attic. The broken voices, collected by chance, give the album a melancholic atmosphere reminiscent of searching through old photo albums. That sense of rediscovery lends itself well to Future Loop Foundation’s first full-length release since ‘Phunk Roc’ back in 1999.
With a bonus disc of remixes, ‘The Fading Room’ marks the glorious return of one of Britain’s true electronic mavericks with a personal yet universally evocative slice of dance music.
