Fashion Round Up: 26/09

Clash plays catch up.

Announced on Monday, Joseph Turvey tomorrow sets up shop on Morning Lane, at the noted sample sale mecca, The Hackney Shop.

Selling his wares alongside prints by illustrator Josh Parkin, the designer and artist follows previous temporary occupants Marques ’ Almeida and Leutton Postle, playing host – the pair will be on hand to answer any questions – until Friday 3rd October.

Selected pieces from SS14 and AW13 will be available to buy (amongst others), while DJ Siobhan Bell has created a special playlist for the store, found at 99 Morning Lane, E9.

Elsewhere the Bundeskunsthalle museum in Bonn has confirmed a Karl Lagerfeld retrospective to open next year, running from 27th March until 13th September.

The German designer’s friend and muse, Lady Amanda Harlech has been confirmed as curator, while the publisher Gerhad Steidl will assist.

Set to reflect on Lagerfeld’s extensive career – including his current long held posts at both Fendi and Chanel – the exhibition will also celebrate the designer’s earlier life, such as his three year stint at Balmain in the late 50’s.

Finally, Victoria Beckham’s own name label has joined the Dover Street gang, with the launch of its first shop yesterday.

Ignoring the allure of neighbouring Mount Street – which has seen openings from Celine and Roksanda this year alone – Beckham confirmed her appreciation of the space in an accompanying video.

“I’ve always loved Dover Street,” she tells the camera (here), “I was very lucky to find this space. When you come into the store, it’s a real gem with a very special energy about it.”

Designed in partnership with the architect Farshid Moussavi, the shop opened its doors to noted press, fans and typically, the paparazzi.
