Fashion Round Up: 11/04

Clash plays catch up with the week’s most fashionable headlines (or something to that effect).

The biggest fashion news this week came via the BFC, with their announcement of NEWGEN MEN’s SS15 recipients; the biggest shock, that London Collections: Men is just a few months away.

Nasir Mazhar, Lee Roach, Matthew Miller, Diego Vanassibara, Agi & Sam, Kit Neale, Astrid Andersen and Common will all continue to receive sponsorship, while Craig Green and Alex Mullins are the latest names to join the list.

“The support is an incredibly valuable tool in allowing me to progress my business, for which I am very grateful,” former MAN designer Green said of the announcement.

Mullins meanwhile – once runner up for the L’Oreal Professional Young Designer of the Year Award – stated, “I will be joining a long line of the UK’s most forward thinking and cutting edge designers, and it is with great pleasure to announce that I am now part of such an influential initiative.”

The support of the prize, in conjunction with Topman, offers the designers financial, business and practical assistance.

Yesterday saw another LC:M release, with the news of Baartmans & Siegel’s collaboration with River Island, the latest young label to be signed up to the brand’s Design Forum initiative.

“When working on the concept for the collection we felt it was important for us to carry through our identity of indulgent masculinity with our signature fabrics and refined classic silhouettes,” the Dutch/English duo noted of the new collection.

Following the likes of Katie Eary, T. Lipop and most recently Joseph Turvey, the collaborative range will be 12 pieces big, in-store this September and debuted with a short film this June.

Lastly, excitement from a London Collections: Men presenting designer, about something else.

J.W.Anderson, Jonathan Anderson’s label for which story telling (according to Facebook) is the goal, will set up shop tomorrow as they host a sample sale in the designer’s east London studio.

Sharing the photo above on social media channels earlier today, the one stop shop will stock both men’s and women’s pieces from seasons previous. Find it at 73-75 Shacklewell Lane, E8 2EB; doors at 10.
