Fashion Round Up: 07/02

Clash plays catch up with the week’s most fashionable headlines (or something to that effect).

Freedom at Topshop has joined forces with Central Saint Martins for a new collection to launch in-store in September.

Students from the second year BA Jewellery Design course were earlier set the task of proposing a collection, which was later judged by Topshop Unique’s Head of Design Emma Farrow. Freedom at Topshop Buying Director Vivien Thomason and Manager Ashkin Yolsal joined her, as did designer Solange Asagury-Partidge and several member of press.

Evie Armstrong-Clarke was named the winner – and will go on to produce a collection – while Lili Murphy-Johnson, Ella Stern, Laila Hmiddouche and Johanna Galefske came highly commended.

Simone Rocha was yesterday announced as the latest designer to partner denim label J. Brand.

Following the example led by Christopher Kane and Proenza Schouler – who’ve both previously collaborated with the label – Rocha’s debut will be previewed to press and buyers in the summer, with a full release in late 2014.

Lastly, adidas Originals and Topshop have teamed up for a SS14 collection.

In stores from 20th March, the Topshop X adidas Originals range is comprised of 20 pieces aiming to bring “femininity” into sport, according to the high street store’s Creative Director, Kate Phelan.

The release – that takes its inspiration from adidas’ archive – will be available to buy in selected Topshop stores.
