Fashion Round Up: 03/10

Clash plays catch up.

French fashion house Carven announced the departure of creative director Guillaume Henry this week, following the brand’s SS15 show last Thursday.

Henry began working with the house in 2009, when the label was relaunched from a couture house to ready to wear, and has been at the label ever since, helping to mold it into the fashion forward, contemporary name it is today.

No one has yet been appointed to replace him, although executives are said to be ‘in talks’; the designer will leave next month.

Elsewhere, the penultimate day of Paris Fashion Week saw Karl Lagerfeld present a faux protest on the Boulevard Chanel (itself a fake street), for the house’s SS15 catwalk show finale.

The culmination of an 80 plus look presentation, the ‘protest’ boasted placards with phrases like ‘History is Her Story’ and ‘Free Freedom’ alongside more fashion focused wording, led by Lagerfeld, phone in hand.

The reaction has been mixed, across both social media and more formal show reports in the press, with an overall negative feeling that the display was perhaps misplaced, undermining more genuine feminist efforts elsewhere.

Finally, following June’s initial announcement – when the pair put out a street casting call for fans to model the collaboration in the forthcoming campaign – this week DKNY’s capsule collection with Cara Delevingne was finally debuted.

“I first started to work with DKNY almost 2 years ago,” Cara recently wrote on the brand’s blog, “They always encouraged my design input, my personal style and my ideas from the very beginning of our working relationship.”

The 15-piece collection includes crop tops, jumpsuits, tees and beanies, and follows Delevingne’s collaborative efforts with Mulberry earlier this year.
