Is there a better way to kick off a DJ Podcast series than with a mix by electro-house legends Booka Shade?
Certainly not. The Berlin-based duo have nailed yet another flawless example of their inspired dance-wisdom, showcasing 40 minutes of super-sharp electro business of all kinds. Beginning with a wonderfully bizarre track from The Martin Brothers, the mix explores trippy house vibes, minimal techno and infectious rhythmic and percussive elements, all underpinned by crisp production and seamless mixing.
Tracks that the duo have used include the brilliant and aptly-named ‘Detroit’ from techno / electro purveyor Morgan Geist, some gloriously retro electro from Heaven 17, and of course, several choice cuts from Booka Shade themselves, including an Audiofly remix of Booka Shade vs. M.A.N.D.Y.’s classic cover of ‘O Superman’ and a brand new mix from the duo themselves of their own ‘Sweet Lies’ track, from latest album The Sun & The Neon Light.
Throughout their career, Booka Shade, made up of Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier, have acquired a habit of turning everything they touch into gold. They have won critical acclaim from both the underground and mainstream, toured the globe extensively and created some absolutely classic tunes along the way, such as the massive club hits ‘Body Language’ (with M.A.N.D.Y.) and ‘Night Falls’. With their Podcast mix for Clash, the duo have crafted yet another winner, picking an inspired selection of high quality and immensely listenable tracks, firmly sealing their reputation as legends of the electronic scene.
