Long story short: it’s really very good indeed.
The band’s Jason Reece fills us in on what’s rocking his cultural world…
Movie
I just watched ‘The Wrestler’ and was astounded on how much Mickey Rourke took this to new levels of grit and sadness. This movie does deserve the attention it’s getting and it also makes me happy to see Rourke in decent movie. By all means see it soon.
Book
Anthony Bourdain‘s A Cooks Tour. This is a sort of travelogue on the road book that has Bourdain eating all over the world. His writing is very humour filled and sardonic. This man has the life and also has a really good TV show called No Reservations. I love it when He describes eating in Vietnam and how beautiful and tasty the food was… you feel like you’re right there with him.
Album
‘The Boatman’s Call’ by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds… It’s such a peaceful album. It’s really nice to listen to this album after hearing a bunch of loud music. Y’know, have nice glass of wine and let the darkness take you away.
Track
Erykah Badu’s ‘Honey’. This song is the jam. I mean, it puts me in such a good mood. It’s a total party shake-your-rump type of song… she’s so talented.
Television show or series
Battlestar Galactica. This show is intense and so well done. It’s very adrenaline fuelled and relevant. The characters are very multidimensional… and the story is very layered. It much more than a sci-fi show.
Exhibition
Shepard Fairey had a poster art/rock show that we played at a few years ago and it was just amazing…
Holiday destination
I would like to go back to Greece and stay on one those islands… like Crete… The idea of eating really great seafood there and seeing the history would be good for the soul.
Gig venue
We had a really great show at Koko in London… the place is old and beautiful…and it sounds great, too.
Live band/DJ
Fugazi put on the best live shows ever. They had this magic… they had the physicality to back it up… it was so otherworldly…
