Clyde Built Radio Survey Glasgow’s Underground

It launches on February 1st...

Glasgow's reputation as a citadel for new music and energetic underground culture has spread across the globe.

The city continually unearths brave new talent, providing a platform for renegades, outlaws, and misfits, for people on the outside to express themselves.

Clyde Built Radio is a new online radio station, an extension of the famed Glasgow-centric compilation series from Huntleys + Palmers.

Label boss Andrew Thomson will head up the new station, which will be based in the city's famed Barras Market.

Launching on February 1st, the day will culminate with a live broadcast party from Barrowland 2, featuring sets from LAPS – Ladies As Pimps – and visual and performance artist Lady Neptune.

Supported by Dr. Martens, it looks like a fantastic opening chapter for Clyde Built Radio.

Ahead of the February 1st launch, Clyde Built Radio station-head Andrew Thomson digs out some gems from the Glasgow Underground.

Lady Neptune

Lady Neptune is another multi-project artist and face about town.

The first time I caught her perform, was an amazing tribute called Madonna Kebab. A few weeks later she played a mesmerising LN set and a few weeks after that I find out she's also in Anarchy 99, who've laid claim to being the fastest band in Glasgow. I've no reason to doubt this.

Could Be

This is a new project by a longstanding Glasgow artist and I think I’m one of the lucky few to have heard more beyond this particular track. Hopefully it won't be much of a secret for too much longer.  Keep yer peepers oot!

Pseudopolis

HEAVY duty sounding. Pseudopolis is a really solid producer to emerge from the Redstone Press crew in the past year or so. He counts Eris Drew and the master of heaviness himself, Paul Woodford, amongst his growing fans – with good reason!

Mt Ambiant

Our favourite Liverpudlian transplant has cropped up on a few of the Clyde Built compilations now with wildly different, but equally great projects. One of the many talented characters that have embedded into the scene here in Glasgow and I'm very excited to announce there will be a full release due on Belters this year.

Dear Vavy

Their track which closes out the final Clyde Built compilation is a modern pop masterpiece and prompts many ID requests whenever I get the chance to play it. See for yourself…!
