A hazy trip from the experimental electronic rock outfit
ClashMusic DJ Mix Podcast - PVT

Experimental electronic rock outfit PVT send us on a hazy trip in this week’s Clash DJ podcast.

The band (formerly known as Pivot) made waves when they released the Battles-ish ‘O Soundtrack My Heart’ on Warp Records in 2008, duelling between ruffed-up math-rock and brooding synth-driven tracks.

Now focusing on a more upfront, industrial-tinged songwriting sound, the band have carried their love of experimental electronica, atmospheric synths and 80s melodic hooks over into their Clash mix, which features tracks from Nathan Fake, John Maus, Luke Abbott and some classic Depeche Mode. There’s also a few tracks from PVT themselves and a tasty remix they’ve put together of slow-burning indie rockers Menomena.

PVT member Richard Pike explains a little more about the mix: “Here’s a group of tracks that I love. They somehow hang together, some are ambient or song-driven tracks, next to techno. The first one, ‘Ashra’s Sunrain’, is great for jogging. I have mainly been listening to a lot of electronic music over the past year, so that track is a good starting point. It’s a late ’70s track, taken from the album ‘New Age Of Earth’, from which the term ‘New Age’ was apparently coined.

So there you have it. A great mix for expanding your appreciation of proggy synth riffery, jogging or just for getting your bliss-out on, in wonderfully woozy style.

PVT's new album, 'Homosapien' will be released on 11 February on Felte.
