'Unknown' is a deeply evocative tag.
It leaves a space, a void to be filled. There's an implication of freedom here, of being able to do anything you want.
In a way, Prins Thomas' output is unknown. It's house but not house, neo-disco crafted in Nordic isolation some decades after the genre finally imploded.
Heading out to Croatia this summer, the Norwegian producer is set to take part in Unknown Festival. Running between September 8th - 10th, the bill features its usual plethora of stellar attractions, boat parties and unexpected surprises.
Joining Prins Thomas on the line will be the likes of Moderat, Chic ft. Nile Rodgers, Jamie xx, CHVRCHES and plenty, plenty more.
Tickets are on sale now, and - with the final touches being laid down at the festival site - Prins Thomas has agreed to step into the mix for Clash.
Opening with some deft, tropical flavours, the Norwegian tastemaker soon steers us into disco bedlam. It's a chilled mix, one that retains an itchy, funky tempo but continually plays with icy synths and glamorous vocals.
There's no tracklisting, so you'll have to do some serious searching to find these tunes elsewhere...
Listen to it now.
Prins Tomas plays Unknown Croatia, September 8th - 12th.
