Federico Albanese has a wonderfully literate approach to making music.
The Berlin-based musician seems to scatter fragrant melody on everything he touches, small but uniquely intense vignettes with a wonderfully restrained palette.
New album 'The Blue Hour' is out now, with the piano-poet adding subtle hues of cello, magnified by over-dubbing and sound effects that fuse into a micro-orchestra.
To coincide, Federico has prepared a mix for Clash. As thoughtful as his own compositions, the mix touches on jazz, African music and even proto-ambient German electronics.
A fascinating voyage, you can tune in below.
