Clash DJ Mix – EVM128

Flavoursome mix packed with plenty of soul...

EVM128 arrived in London as his teenage years drew to a close, and immediately immersed himself in the capital's clubbing scene.

Drawn towards the then-nascent sounds of broken beat and UK garage, the producer has never quite shook off his first love.

Retaining an overwhelming appreciation for music with soul, for music with guts and feeling, the beat maker has recently found himself drawn back towards those initial influences.

Recently lauded by some as spear-heading a so-called broken beat revival, the reality is that EVM128's music is to complex to simply tie down to any one tag.

Debut album 'Nova' is a blur of sounds and styles, all held together by that over-riding appreciation for a soulful vocal and dexterous, elastic percussion.

Invited to piece together a mix for Clash, EVM128 responded with a quick run-through some tunes he's feeling right now. So expect house, the roots of garage and even a jazz-funk re-edit as the producer takes us in deep…
