DJ Storm is a pivotal figure in the birth and evolution of drum and bass. Her formidable sets during the white heat of the genre’s birth opened up system culture in fresh ways, ad her involvement with Metalheadz resulted in some truly seminal releases.
Together with her beloved DJ Kemistry the two practically developed the blueprint for DNB, before tearing the rulebook to pieces. Grappling with possibilities, DJ Storm has spent 30 years behind the decks, a bass warrior who is continually committed to embracing fresh ideas.
This summer proved to be another milestone for DJ Storm, who hit Outlook, seminal weekender Houghton, and will play a starring role at Hospitality In The Woods next month.
Ahead of this, she’s pieced together an exclusive mix for Clash, focussing on new artists, and underground voices. Forever keen to platform fresh innovation, this mix pushes beyond the cutting edge of bass culture.
She comments: “Really excited to be asked to be involved in the Clash DJ mix, I have selected some of my favourite tunes from some of my favourite producers, old and new, enjoy the ride!”
