Forget the misery of January and lose yourself in the psychedelic techno tendencies of Abstraxion, an intriguing producer who’s carefully crafted the latest exclusive DJ mix for Clash.
Abstraxion – French-born, London-based producer Harold Boué – has released his deep, organic and experimental techno on a variety of impressive labels, including Nicolas Jaar’s Other People and New York-based HAKT. The latter of these, HAKT (Have a Killer Time), also released Abstraxion’s debut full-length album, ‘Break of Lights’, a record which points towards the producer’s love for colourful, Caribou-ish electronica alongside deeper, dancefloor-focused leanings.
Featuring heavyweight players such as Nina Kraviz, DJ QU and Call Super – as well as newer talents like progressive techno producer Rumah – Abstraxion’s mix for Clash is a dark, groove-laden slow burner, bubbling over with low-slung techno grooves and tripped-out heady house. Here’s what Boué had to say about his selection.
“While recording this mix for Clash in my studio in France, I wanted to share some tracks I discovered recently that totally blew me away. When I DJ, I also try to adapt my sound to the places and the atmosphere without losing my Abstraxion identity, of course. So this mix actually introduces my musical universe, going from slow electronica to techno. I hope you all like it!”
