Charlie Sloth is one of the biggest names in hip-hop broadcasting.
A rapper who transformed himself into a one-man industry, Charlie Sloth has become a by-word for integrity in this industry. Currently holding down a show on Apple Music, his regular Fire In The Booth slots are globally renowned for their impact, uniting Charlie’s ever on-point taste with a thirst for new talent.
Continually focussed on new projects, Charlie Sloth’s latest challenge is taking Fire In The Booth to Germany. Rap across Europe was previously segmented, but with artists like Central Cee leading the way it seems that the borders are being ripped down.
Causing a ruckus in Deutschland, Charlie Sloth has taken the country’s rap scene by storm, ratcheting up millions of plays on his shows.
Celebrating his birthday over the weekend, he remains at the forefront of rap music in every genre, and every territory. “Every day is a different experience for me; I love it, this is what I’ve worked towards… But I’m trying to find a better balance. About once a year my body gives up; it’s 200+ shows a year minimum and I enjoy a party. I don’t want to be an old man behind the decks – I’d rather help nurture the next generation of talent so for me that shift is coming, but I’ll never retire. I’ll be like Gepetto pulling strings while finding time to do some painting, read some books… At the moment it’s all work.”
Writing for Clash, Charlie Sloth has penned a few words of wisdom for his teenage self – and his advise applies to anyone who needs it.

Dear Younger me,
First of all, I’d like to say how proud I am of how much you believe in yourself. You don’t know it now but that self-belief you have will help you to accomplish some mind-blowing things. Try and enjoy the journey, I know it’s hard but keep looking at the picture boards that you have up in your room and keep feeling inspired. You will be successful beyond your wildest dreams but you will learn that the people you love around you will bring the biggest smile to your face because you have built the most amazing family that makes you feel like the greatest man on the planet. So keep being happy and remembering what matters the most to you.
Know that people will always have an opinion and it’s okay to be the black sheep in both your social and family circles. You don’t know this right now but I promise you it’s a blessing, not a curse. Being different and not thinking like everyone else is a beautiful thing and will put you in a great space when you’re older. I know right now one of the things you fear most is failure. Don’t be scared to fail, you will learn more from each failure than any win. Each time you lose the odds of your winning becomes greater. Just know that no matter what you achieve you will always want more. The moment you hit a milestone and achieve one of your targets you will be searching for the next. You will learn that this is because you’re always trying to outdo yourself and the only person you’re competing with is you so try not to put too much pressure on yourself. It all works out. Don’t base your success on others’ goals know that you are successful by your own admission.
Lastly, the future is great, you have so much to come, so just trust what’s happening and go with it. Stay real and humble. Most importantly don’t change anything major, your life is great, you’re happy now and all the decisions and choices you make lead you to end up here.
