Bloc Party Again!

Bloc Weekend is a powerhouse of underground sounds

Bloc Weekend, the now legendary three day indoor underground electronics showcase, is returning to Pontin’s Holiday Park this March, following its 2007 success.

Bloc is a powerhouse of dynamic, forward-thinking underground sounds, giving something back to the dance fans who had to put up with a summer of Nu-Rave and handbag dance. Last year’s event was critically received with a lineup headed by the godfathers of electronic noise, Autechre. They were supported by alt-hip hop originator Kool Keith and the ghoulish Rhythm and Sound and highlights of the event were broadcast by Radio 1, bringing the underground over ground for two glorious nights.

…the most stupifyingly outstanding acts from all the far-flung corners of the planet

This year’s event looks set to surpass last year’s success with a line-up sure to coax the finest, the most reclusive and the most stupifyingly outstanding acts from all the far-flung corners of the planet, all to make a generation’s head spin once again. Two acts already confirmed to appear are The Bug and D’Arcangelo with MC set and live shows.

Bloc was a successful Brighton club night before evolving into the massive, two and a half thousand capacity festival it is today. Last year’s event sold out six weeks in advance, raising the bar for UK dance festivals. With a dedication to hunting out the best and most diverse in underground dance, the event ends with an almighty, head banging rave. And don’t forget all the usual Pontin’s action also on offer. One highlight will be the weekend’s climax that comes in the form of Ceephax Acid Crew’s Fancy Dress Sunday Acid Bingo Session. You can’t get more Pontin’s than that.
