“I find shooting musicians is a lot more about bringing out their personalities and getting something from them that nobody else has managed to,” Hayley Louisa Brown told Clash earlier this year.
“And then there's the time thing,” she continued, “you book a model and you have the entire day, with a musician you can have anywhere from minutes to a half day, so you always need to be prepared, and speedy!”
Her latest project – we use the term loosely; these portraits were shot in Berlin last July (watch the party that followed here) – shows no haste, though the imagined schedule of her subject would suggest the latter was true.
Said project sees Brown’s lens turn to Pharrell Williams, as he models Sk8thing designed pieces from the SS14 Billionaire Boys Club collection. The cap you’ll note – a distant relative of the infamous Westwood piece he’s been pre-occupied with of late – bears LDN credentials and is an exclusive, so there won’t be many about.
