As part of our Best of 2009 coverage, you can read our full 16 page Stone Roses 20th Anniversary celebrations from the April issue of Clash Magazine.
We packed alot into those 16 pages, it was a labour of love for the team, with the extensive coverage including…
Mancunian journo John Robb looks at the band’s early years, a cast of ‘those who were there’ share memories while debut album producer John Leckie tells of the recording sessions. We then look at the four men who made up the band, their huge Spike Island gig and their first brush with the courts over the redecoration of their old record label’s offices before they disappeared from view for 5 years.
We then look at the reception afforded the ‘Second Coming’ album, Michael Eavis adds his thoughts on that aborted Glastonbury appearance, then it’s the departure of drummer Reni and their final much criticised Reading Festival appearance.
Of course, we couldn’t help but poll opinions about a possible reunion before looking at the band’s legacy and talking to Ian Brown about the band and his feeling about how it all ended.
