In two seasons the Christopher Shannon collar has grown and grown. A year ago the Liverpudlian opened his show with a polite white collar, in June he showed pointed things in rubber and plastic, and yesterday Clash witnessed fantastic excessive pieces.
But that simple bit of fabric that finishes a neckline was just the icing on a particularly tasty cake.
There were four key components to the AW14 collection; cigarette packet knits, a strong use of leather, PE lesson tracksuits, and an artistic floral graphic.
The knits picked up where the summer logo jumpers left off, with ‘brand names’ such as ‘Goodtime’ and ‘Monday nights’, while the leather came through via jogging bottom style trousers, luxury kagouls and shirts.
Elsewhere Shannon displayed his take on 70s style tracksuits, adorned with thin silver zips and single white stripes. Plain boot bags and adidas Gazelles completed the look, as hair was styled long at the front and short at the back, dripping wet across the models faces.
Judy Blame collaborated with Shannon on a series of money themed jewellery, primarily made up of silver safety pins and fake banknotes, in reference to the early days of Thatcherism from which the collection took its cue.
Dane Bowers and Victoria Beckham’s ‘Out of Your Mind’ played out during the finale; superb.
