For a while there, The Heavy seemed to strike it lucky.
The band's soul/rock/hip-hop fusion found an audience Stateside, with breakthrough cut 'How You Like Me Now?' bringing them enormous attention.
But then it seemed to go sour. Enduring divorce, death, and near break ups, the group were pushed to the limit.
Music, though, brought them back together. "We attack all of these things," says frontman Kelvin Swaby, "and the only way we know how to do that is by writing incredible music."
New album 'Hurt & The Merciless' is the result. It's an emphatic return, one that re-traces their initial roots but blasts forward down fresh, and deeply individual, paths.
Out on April 1st (pre-order LINK), it's an explosive return, one that is fuelled by a rare lust for life. Recently blowing the roof off London's Moth Club, The Heavy are set to play a full European tour this summer.
Before then, however, you can tune in to 'Hurt & The Merciless' on Clash.
