Felix Stallings has spent more than two decades blasting back the boundaries of electronic music.
Perhaps more readily known as Felix Da Housecat, the producer is set to return to his techno nom de guerre for a new album. Yes, the Aphrohead monikor is being reinvigorated, more than 20 years on from the timeless techno brain-mangler 'In Thee Dark We Live' and the results are glorious.
New album 'Resurrection' is out today (September 18th) on Crosstown Rebels, with Felix relishing the opportunity to work on material that flits between the visceral and the cerebral.
The producer says: “I missed making techno and Chicago jackin beats. I call this sound I’m working on Train Music because once it’s on thee groove, I like it to remain on tracks, no breaks no gimmicks just straight driving force.”
Smashing together old and new, this latest document from Aphrohead playfully filters the producer's legacy with some enthralling, fresh influences.
“Aphrohead is my dirty of thee dirty, mixing live analogue beats capturing thee magic recording on the first take, rockin 4 walls of thee most primitive dancefloors around thee globe. Pure underground, no filter. I feel and believe thee time is NOW for thee Resurrection.”
