Jean Paul Gaultier, Courrèges and Raf Simons all have at least one thing in common: hook ups with accessories label Eastpak.
Elsewhere Sharmadean Reid, Christopher Shannon and Joseph Turvey are among the names previously tapped for the brand’s Artist Studio project, each creating a one off edition for the charity Designers Against Aids.
The latest name to be added to the extensive list then, is Vlisco; perhaps one of the more unique collaborations, the Dutch fabric label has been exporting textiles to West and Central Africa since 1846 and reportedly remains today the only brand creating authentic Dutch wax fabrics.
Designed by the Antwerp based Harvey Bouterse – another former Artist Studio participant – the petite collection is fronted by Vlisco’s much feted ‘Wax Hollandais’ fabric.
Produced in two colourways, each in a limited run of 300 (and available in-store at Selfridges and online at Eastpak), a matching picnic blanket accompanies every rucksack for full on patterned vibes, while a short film about the hows and whys exists here.
