Japanese streetwear giant BAPE (*A Bathing Ape), is ramping up the celebrations for its 30th anniversary with a special London-themed collection as its global flagship in Mayfair celebrates its second birthday. Founded in Harajuku, Japan in 1993, the brand has been instrumental in the evolution of Japanese streetwear culture at home and around the globe, becoming a cornerstone of London’s own streetwear scene over the last two decades.
Today, BAPE presents the BAPE STORE® London 2nd Anniversary Capsule, a seven-piece collection that champions the brand’s most iconic modern designs with a London twist in red, white and blue. Debuting new iterations of the Sk8 Sta shoe, the College Tee, the Big Bape Head Tee, and the Shark Full Zip Double Hoodie, the collection even retools the legendary BAPE CAMO in the famed Union Jack colours alongside a subtly embellished ‘2’ to honour the London anniversary on each piece of apparel.
The campaign follows London’s own Unknown T as he journeys through London traffic and chaos to reach the four-storey flagship at the centre of England’s capital. He adventures through a bus stop, a taxi and a phonebox, each of which has been given the BAPE CAMO treatment in the capsule’s celebratory red, white and blue. His journey culminates at the Mayfair flagship just in time to take the stage and kicks off a performance at the store.
