United Nude: Re-Inventing Shoes

The Dutch brand brings 3D printing to London.

United Nude is a curious brand with an even curious(er) aesthetic; promising ‘elegance, innovation and design’, the footwear label is a bit of a Marmite situation courtesy of Amsterdam.

That its latest project involves 3D printing then, should really come as no surprise.

Fresh from shows in both New York and Milan (and having arrived at the brand’s Floral Street flagship to coincide with the London Design Festival), ‘Re-Inventing Shoes’ sees the Dutch brand hook up with 3D Systems, tapping five of the world’s leading architects and designers to explore the modern medium.

Boasting a line-up of Zaha Hadid, Ross Lovegrove, Fernando Romero, Michael Young and Ben van Berkel of UN Studio, the exhibition allows each to push the shoe design arena, with proper sculptural freedom and a focus on the broader aesthetic.

Until 27th September.
