Thundercat is celebrating his love for Japanese culture with a limited edition spring-summer collection.
Hitting the shelves of Dover Street Market, the artist brings to life his broad pool of influences through a mixture of artistic heroes, sports, anime and, of course, his beloved pet cat Tron. Across the collection, one can spot kimonos made in partnership with Robe Japonica, utilising Thundercat’s logo with shades of red and black. Elsewhere, the capsule shares chunky collegiate-style knitwear pieces and football shirts, incorporating hints of nostalgia and bright, contrasting prints throughout. Rounding out the collection with an exclusive run of 250 cotton holographic crew necks made in the artist’s home of Los Angeles, the capsule sees the artist venture into new styles and formats.
The collection arrives just in time for Thundercat’s soon-to-be-sold-out UK and EU tour, additionally hosting an exclusive performance at DSM London Flagship store earlier this week. A trailblazing figure in contemporary music, the LA bassist, singer and songwriter fuses elements of neo-soul, nu jazz, psychedelic funk and R&B into his own unique style and flair. Across a decade-spanning discography, the artist has collaborated with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Ariana Grande, Tame Impala and more, proving a one-of-a-kind talent that continues to evolve through new sounds and eras.
Thundercat’s spring and summer collection is available to purchase exclusively at Dover Street Market London Flagship or via shop.doverstreetmarket.com
