The North Face Celebrates 30 Years Of The Nuptse Jacket
The North Face celebrates 30 years of the Nuptse jacket with a special anniversary collection honouring the original jacket from 1992. The relaunch champions the original designs from ‘92 with brand new, commemorative detailing inspired by the history of the jacket.
The anniversary Nuptse is available in three meaningful colours and patterns, referencing the The North Face Fall 1992 catalogue. The three iterations – TNF Red, TNF Blue and a new TNF Black 1992 Nuptse Print are all inspired by the catalogue and each jacket features a 1992 patch on the right sleeve and an internal panel with the Fall 1992 catalogue cover and origin story of the Nuptse.
“The North Face origin and designs have always prioritized construction for the most extreme conditions with functional style, creating a unique ability to be trusted by all explorers for more than 55 years. The Nuptse embodies these design principles with its timelessness and are proud to commemorate its 30th Anniversary with a design that perfectly celebrates where it started and where it is today.” – Tim Hamilton, Global Creative Vice President, at The North Face
Designed in 1992 as a part of The North Face’s Expedition System, the Nuptse utilised a unique layering system specifically for high altitudes and was quality tested by world-class athletes. The jacket was named after the Nuptse mountain range in the Himalayan Mountains, southwest of Mount Everest, the correct Tibetan pronunciation being “Nuptse”, where “Nup” means west and “Tse” means Peak.
