Making its debut in 1993 as an ‘on-court/off-court’ style (that is, a viable sartorial option all around the clock), Nike’s ‘Great Tennis Shoe’ lasted on for just seven years before the model was picked up by a skate crowd that included Guy Mariano, Pepe Martinez and Drake Jones.
Fast forward to 2015 and the GTS – to which it is casually referred – is now commonplace in skate culture and has just undergone a Supreme makeover.
Released online and in-store this Thursday (16th July), the new look shoe has been produced in five colourways (red, white, black, blue and yellow) and boasts a herringbone cotton canvas exterior.
The last piece of the latter label’s SS15 puzzle – and with an on brand red and white logo interior – expect queues to be appropriately excessive.
