SS25: Isabel Marant Men’s Plays With Soft Romanticism and Bohemian Influences

The French designer offers a sexier, after-dark attitude for SS25.

Isabel Marant’s menswear collection takes on a soft rock and roll romanticism this season, melding the designer’s traditional Bohemian influences with a sexier, after-dark attitude. Renowned for her effortless cool-girl aesthetic, Marant carries a smooth and aspirational energy through her menswear collections as well.

The collection is rich with Marant’s signature ikat prints and heavier embroidery that embeds a romantic nostalgia throughout. The wardrobe can be classed as distinctly rock and roll with grunge influences, where flannel shirts are tied around waists and red and black vests punctuate an otherwise neutral and softly washed colour palette. Shot in a darkened nightclub, the images exude a gritty end-of-the-night feeling, caught in corners and on lone empty sofas.

Slouchy silhouettes and deeply open shirts soften the collection and allow Marant and artistic director Kim Bekker to play with textures and washes. Worn-in-leather pants are paired with cosy striped knits, while loosely fitted checked trousers are cinched with a black belt. Marant and Becker play with texture through carefully slashed jeans, fuzzy mohair sweaters, and washed natural fabrics that feature delicate embroidery, printed with the distinctive ikat print. Heavier denim pieces feature heavier embroidery and studs embedded on hems, collars and pockets, exemplifying Isabel Marant’s signature Bohemian style. Looks are paired with western boots or leopard boat shoes, offering a polished yet effortless finish to cosier fits.
