Sports Banger LFW19 Off London Show Bangs

Rave culture is alive and vibrant in Seven Sisters...

Contrary to what some of the broadsheets may have you believe, the real underground acid house rave scene has a new bastion of hope on the Seven Sisters road and not at the major labels.

If Malcolm Mclaren had embraced rave culture in 2019 rather than the Kings Road mob in the 70's his shop 'Sex' would have in our heads been a close match for the Sports Banger emporium.

Following up a spate of tongue in cheek reimaginings of brand logos including the NHS x Nike Swoosh mash up, Jonny Banger's first fashion show brought the kind of vibe to fashion week that is often lost in larger productions.

The recent Slazenger x Sports Banger collection has captured the hearts and wallets of the sportswear mad generation Z faithful.

The catwalk take on this collaboration saw Jonny adapting core pieces from the collection alongside new pieces, incorporating the PVC from left over lilo's to create a super slick AM-1 bomber jacket and tracksuits, an all in one tracksuit covered in dog prints of every description flipped with bucket hats, scarfs, balaclavas and Banger custom accessories. Genius idea ensuring no wastage and stunning results, a nose to tail clothing operation (shout out Chino) in more ways than one.

Modelled by friends and family including Novelist channeling a Morpheus vibe, Skream inside a Hazmat suit carrying a Mitsubishi Turbo, Meme Gold and  star of the show Seven Sisters legend Chino the staffie, who had his own matching wardrobe featuring several changes as the crowd including Jeremy Deller, Jaime Winstone, Melanie Blatt and friends went mad for it.

The Sports Banger Off London fashion show cemented Jonny's cult status for those in the know and proved again that some of the most enjoyable shows often take place far from the madding crowds. We look forward to raving again soon with Jonny and the gang and watching the Seven Sisters road empire blossom. With Vogue and Dazed writers in the room also we suspect you will be seeing the Sports Banger brand levelling up again in coming months.
