Sophia Webster is the designer collaborators flock to, having hooked up with Barbie in 2015, tapped Katy B – twice – to perform at London Fashion Week, and more recently working with Meadham Kirchhoff’s Edward Meadham on a series of frocks to accompany her AW16 collection; her label is one people embrace with wide smiles and open arms.

And it seems the industry’s heavyweights agree: the accessories designer last night claimed the seventh BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund as her own, winning a £200,000 cash grant for the label as well as being the recipient of a 12 month bespoke, high level mentoring programme.

“The judging committee was impressed by her brilliant and thorough business acumen; seeing great potential for developing her label into an internationally acclaimed British brand,” explains Caroline Rush CBE of the British Fashion Council. “Sophia has an amazing ability to turn accessories into masterpieces and we are thrilled to support her at an exciting time of growth.”

Launched in 2013, Sophia Webster picked up the Drapers Student Footwear Designer of the Year award in 2009, going on to receive support from NEWGEN for SS13 up until AW14; in 2013 she was named as Emerging Accessory Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards.
