Forget Glasto, we'll take a Samson wristband.
Shaun Samson SS14

Yes there were knits, sweatshirts and wool trousers, but for the most part Shaun Samson’s Spring Summer 14 collection followed suit in his display of ‘proper’ seasonal collections.

See the oversized chunky knit cardigans of AW13 replaced by translucent sparkly jumpers, the heavy leather shorts swapped for a light organza counterpart, and in place of blankets carried over the shoulder, towels were wrapped around legs.

Summer landed not at 9am last Tuesday however, but with the opening of a white envelope and the appearance of a beach ball; which we proceeded to blow up almost instantly…

An early show time meant there were some empty seats, but more fool the ones whose hangovers overwhelmed them (or boarded early for Pitti). Samson’s collection was a standout show, from the opening bars of Mutya, Keisha, Siobhan’s ‘Lay Down in Swimming Pools’ (fooling us at least, as we expected Kendrik Lamar’s vocals to follow), to the three silk panel tops (reminiscent of Prada to our eye).

This was street in its shapes and styling and high class in its fabric choices and presentation. More so than in previous collections, there was a richness and quality to SS14 displayed throughout; you got a sense that these boys really were living it up and seeking Vitamin D on a daily basis.

The branded wristbands and lanyards made us giddy too.
