Seth Troxler doesn't hold back.
Last year the DJ caused a stir by introducing a new London music festival… in the nude. Clearly, this is a figure who doesn't much care for the opinion of others.
So when Thump (the Stateside version) asked the producer about drugs they got a forthright response. "I think ketamine is the heroin of our time," he said. "It's horrible. It's fucked. And G I think is horrible. I think people should just take ecstasy and trip."
Seth Troxler has rather more time for hallucinogenic drugs, though. "I've had some experiences with psychedelics," he stated. "I've had crazy purgatory trips where I've found that, to me, being a good person is the paramount thing. I don't want to live in an afterlife where my life doesn't take me to a further place. And I completely believe in the afterlife. I think I've seen the afterlife through DMT and other chemicals".
The DJ was quick to separate underground dance music from drugs, though. "People just think our scene is about drugs and partying," he said. "But music and taste really is a sign of intelligence."
"If you're into underground dance music culture, the people you meet are really educated, professional people doing amazing things. In EDM, I don't think it's the same world."
