Last December Hedi Slimane journeyed to Los Angeles for Celine’s Winter 2023 show. The collection, titled ‘The Age of Indieness’ was presented at Hollywood’s Legendary WIltern Theatre with performances from Iggy Pop, The Strokes and Interpol. This Los Angeles adventure holds special significance for Celine and Hedi Slimane, who lived in L.A. for a few years before returning to Paris in 2018.
Today, the Parisian fashion house has unveiled a short film, shot by Slimane and soundtracked by a special version of The White Stripes’ ‘Hello Operator’, showcasing the Winter spectacle, dynamic musical performances and the A-List front row guests, to coincide with the launch of the collection at international Celine stores.
A historical venue, the Wiltern embodies the old Hollywood glamour and drama Slimane called upon for the collection. Built in the 1930s as a vaudeville theatre, the Wiltern would go on to become a cinema, specifically the Warner Brothers’ Western Theatre, before becoming one of Hollywood’s most famous and well respected music venues, hosting performances from artists including Prince, James Brown, Neil Young and Nina Simone.
