The second drop of the designer collaboration; round two.

‘The challenge is exactly the fact that Fred Perry has a very distinctive heritage and identity,’ remarks Raf Simons of his collaboration with the brand. The two labels first worked together on AW08 in a range that ran through to SS11, and the line was picked up again for SS13.

Autumn Winter 13 borrows from Simons’ mainline collection in its use of thin knits and colour. Similarly the four men picked to show off the clothes – pictured above – all bear that typical Simons look with hair cut to match.

Embracing Fred Perry’s Mod background, this season sees collars play a defining role adorning tops of both long sleeve and shot. An Americana theme also works its way through the line, noted specifically in leather armed varsity jackets.

‘It is about respecting each other and working on collections that translate both brands natures and challenge each other by focusing on the differences of each others nature, to create something different from what both would usually do,’ Simons continues.

Indeed, there are details here present that wouldn’t usually make it onto his catwalk, likewise there is a blue so sharp it’s hard to picture it in any other Fred Perry line than this.
