“I love that the shop does its own thing (that sounds like a PR stunt to sell some chocolate) but I feel they were the first alongside The Pineal Eye to do something new for the London scene in terms of retail.”
In typically quaint Peter Jensen fashion, the designer this week announces a new capsule collection for London boutique, OTHER/shop.
Comprised of only three pieces – each a signature ‘demi sleeve’ shift adorned in an archive print – the full collection is limited to just 45 dresses in total.
Continues the Danish designer: “We have worked with OTHER/shop for 15 years, they bought the very first Peter Jensen collection AW01 ‘MMM’ when they opened b store on Conduit Street.”
The first of the three frocks features a paper chain print inspired by children’s birthday parties (taken from the resort ‘11 collection), while another is a reproduction of a hand knitted jumper made by Jensen’s mother, taken from AW05’s ‘Fanny and Alexander’ inspired collection.
The final borrows AW11’s theme: a Google maps print referencing the Hollywood Hills.
Far from a PR stunt, the longstanding relationship between the designer and the brand means Clash is inclined to think the latest hook up is the result of mutual respect, as much as a back scratching affair.
Concludes Peter: "Matt and Kirk are lovely ‘young’ guys always good for a gossip, what could be better than that?”
Released this Thursday, OTHER/shop and Peter Jensen have added a third party to proceedings, as set designer Gary Card produces a special in-store installation boasting the archive prints.
