Harley Weir directs the Birmingham four-piece for the label's new film.

You know that scene in ‘Notting Hill’ where Hugh Grant walks through Portobello Road Market and seasons pass around him? Well the new Paul Smith video could well be a more sartorially appealing version of that: in a studio, with a running machine, a wind machine and a bucket.

Directed by dreamy photographer and film-maker Harley Weir, the short clip is set to Swim Deep’s ‘Francisco’ and sees the four band members share the starring role.

Rosy cheeked, gum chewing and at times giving perfect pout, Austin, Cavan, Higgs and Zach stroll through heavy rain, sunset and wind; at one point Austin suffers a Hitchcock-does-Trafalgar Square style attack of the birds.

The Paul Smith pre-collection – in which the men parade – takes its cue from Smith’s mainline AW14 collection (the accompanying ad campaign sees Zach star), with musical notes and pink flamingos prominently featured across shirts and tees.
