Following the much hyped debut drop in March, NikeLab this week announced its second collection with Japanese label Sacai; and it’s set to arrive next week.
The new summer drop borrows from the same enthusiastic palette displayed in the initial collaboration, with neon shades partnered with grey, white and a rich blue. “I was inspired by the palette that I saw in the Nike archives and looked at expressing it in a new way,” notes the former Comme designer, Chitose Abe.
“It was exciting to work with the Windrunner as a key silhouette,” she continues of the current line up that includes also a Dunk Lux footwear option. “This is one of Nike’s most classic designs. Through the design process of re-interpreting the garment, it’s unexpected to see it with a burst of feminine pleats at the back.”
The jacket makes two appearances within the capsule line, both in its traditional shape around the upper body and reimagined as a front-snap skirt; lace and jersey elsewhere contribute to the experimental aesthetic, while movement and fluidity remain at the core of the crossover between the offbeat label and sports giant.
