MM6 Maison Margiela & Salomon Officially Release Their X-ALP Collection

The archival mountaineering shoe makes a triumphant return in two distinct colourways.

MM6 Maison Margiela and Salomon have finally released their highly anticipated X-ALP collaboration following weeks of speculation after two silhouettes from the collaboration were leaked in May.

The frequent collaborators have taken a new direction with the X-ALP release, opting for a muted, technical design following more bold and dramatic releases in recent years including a new take on the Cross shoe, which featured an all red version famously worn by Rihanna during her Superbowl halftime show. The latest output from this flourishing partnership is an elevated take on the X-ALP from the Salomon archives.

The highly technical and protective hiking shoe maintains its aerodynamic design in reference to Salomon’s mountaineering roots. The chunky silhouette is almost identical in shape and details from its original iteration, this time available in two distinct colourways – an all-black version and a white and cream version with black detailing. The classic Salomon silhouette is offset by a distinctive stamp of the MM6 Maison Margiela numerical logo stamp on the tongue of each shoe, alongside a bold hi-tech graphic of the Salomon logo.

The MM6 Maison Margiela x SALOMON X-Alp shoe is available now at both and, and at select MM6 and Salomon stores.
