Evidenced by the ongoing ‘Women’s Tales’ short film series from Miu Miu, that Miranda July ‘Somebody’ app collaboration, and Prada’s SS14 nod to Britney Spears (Spears’ ‘Work Bitch’ played soundtrack to an assortment of bright coloured furs), Miuccia Prada is firmly tapped into contemporary pop culture.
The designer’s latest outpouring of lust for the iPhone generation? A new music app from the former, aptly titled Miu Miusic.
Produced alongside acclaimed DJ Frédéric Sanchez – he began his career in show music working for Martin Margiela in 1988; a long term Prada collaborator, he was likewise once responsible for creating a sound installation at the brand’s Tokyo flagship – the new app boasts ten Sanchez originals.
Alongside the new tracks, a wealth of Miu Miu graphics and scenes from the latest IRL Miu Miu catwalk means fans can create their own Miu Miu video, remixed into a unique display by Miu Miusic.
With monikers like ‘City Pulse’, ‘In The Blush’ and ‘Analog Dream’, the ten Sanchez produced tracks are each inspired by the mood of a Miu Miu show, while the names refer to music history.
