Marc Jacobs and Anna Sui Celebrate Friendship With Their Latest Capsule

The pair launch an exclusive varsity jacket and snapshot bag to commemorate 40 years of Marc Jacobs.

Celebrating 40 years of Marc Jacobs, the NYC designer combines forces with friend and collaborator Anna Sui for a limited-edition capsule.

The pair first crossed paths at the infamous Charivari store on the Upper West Side – picture a young Jacobs on stock duties, and Sui dropping by for some light retail. Later cementing their relationship whilst studying at Parsons School of Design, the duo have worked on numerous projects together, asserting one another’s visionary strengths over the last four decades.

Marc and Anna’s latest endeavours materialise through the varsity jacket and snapshot bag, a quirky addition to Jacobs’ year-long series of exclusive collaborations. Utilising Sui’s familiar black and purple tones, the purse features illustrations by Will Broome, a familiar re-imagining of the iconic Miss and Mister Marc characters which were first revealed during the early noughties. Embellished in patches, logos and initials, the varsity jacket leans into a classic oversized silhouette, incorporating playful elements into the baseball mainstay.

To this day independent and female-run, Anna Sui brings an exciting energy to Marc Jacobs’ lasting legacy, piecing together an ode to life-long friendship.

Speaking on the collaboration, Sui shares: “Marc and I have been friends forever. This collaboration has been such a privilege to work on. There is nothing better than creating with a friend.”
