Lazy Oaf x Casper

The label taps the friendly ghost for its latest cartoon collab.

So the queen of cartoons has a new muse. Adding to a collaborative roster that already boasts Looney Tunes and Garfield amongst its ranks (see elsewhere Batman, Nasty Gal and Kickers), Lazy Oaf designer Gemma Shiel has now turned her attentions to Christina Ricci’s childhood pal.

Inviting the mortal world to join them on the dark side (their words), the latest offering reintroduces everyone’s favourite cartoon loner in Casper the Friendly Ghost.

Two decades after we first met Fatso, Stretch and Stinkie in Brad Silberling and Phil Nibbelink’s 1995 feature film, Shiel taps their nephew’s image for a new romantic line-up: monochrome shirts, ruffle bottomed tees and frill topped socks are just some of the highlights.

Granted exclusive archive access by Dreamworks, the collection marries teen nostalgia with a morbid outlook in 2015; Michael Mills – similarly responsible for last year’s Garfield stint – shoots the look book, while a standout white taffeta frock poses as the ultimate phantom uniform.
