The London labels launch a new mascot.

Way back in June when shorts, sandals and string vests were still a reasonable enough proposal, Kit Neale took us on a holiday that went no further than the ground floor space of London’s Victoria House.

A grand affair, we were surrounded by modelish looking men dressed up in bright whites, soft pastels and busy prints; there was a runway of sorts, and a couple of wooden planes, no bigger than doll size.

We are of course talking of Neale’s SS15 presentation, the Peckham based designer’s second away from the Fashion East Menswear Installations, and Clash’s first meeting with Kit’s monsters.

A collaborative project with Tatty Devine – the Perspex queens this year celebrating their 15th anniversary – said monsters take the form of brooches, necklaces and key chains, comprised of Perspex, googly plastic eyes and marabou fluff.




“We wanted to create some kind of talisman style charm for our travelling explorer that gave the idea that it was botched together with found objects,” notes the designer.

Tatty’s creative director, Harriet Vine meanwhile adds: “I loved working with Kit on this project! It was really exciting to translate his energetic style and original drawings into Perspex. As we brought each little monster to life they became more than just jewellery – they are all individual characters in their own right.”

And you don’t have to wait until it is next socially acceptable to wear shorts to purchase one, hurrah.
