You Must Create could very well be a Katharine Hamnett slogan, were it not in fact the moniker of Fraser Moss and Jimmy Collins’ 21 year old label, borrowed from pioneer of American Industrial Design, Raymond Loewy.
Testing the waters somewhat, a new hook up between the pair – the outspoken designer and the contemporary fashion label – sees YMC’s core stamped across a series of jersey tees; part of a new line-up for SS16.
“I’m really happy to be doing a collaboration with YMC,” offers Hamnett of the partnership, “a great British brand, using bio-dynamic silk and organic cotton, made ethically and as environmentally as possible.”
Launching today, the capsule collection boasts three text led tees stating, as well as the aforementioned, ‘Stop and Think’ and ‘Save the Future’ (because as the activist adds, “Slogan T-shirts are still powerful, you can’t not read them – they stay in your head”), while archive pieces have also been reworked.
Produced in Italy and designed in a ‘seasonless’ vein, the full collection includes dresses, shirts and trousers of certified organic silk and cotton; the accompanying trimmings are likewise the product of sustainable sourcing.
