Whether witnessed in person, or on a plasma screen TV down your local, the scenes at this weekends London Marathon finishing line were inspiring on a few different levels.
For some it will have encouraged new motivation to hit the gym a little harder, for others a deeper desire to set bigger life challenges. And for the select few – namely the special little community of sports-shoe boffins know as ‘Sneakerheads’, a scouring of the internet, and specialist stores for the most must-have running shoes.
Cleverly, German footwear manufacturers Hummel seem to have pre-empted this after effect, re-issuing their 1980s Marathona model this month, with a few special twists.
First reintroduced as a collaboration between two prestigious sneaker stores; Overkill and Mita, at the end of 2016, the new Gry rework features a suede, nylon and leather upper, in muted blues and greys with a contrasting brilliant white sole.
