In the latest episode of the Gosha Rubchinskiy x Comme des Garcons story (Rei Kawakubo provided the financial support that has seen Rubchinskiy’s brand thrive while the line consistently sells out at Dover Street Market), the designer has produced an exclusive capsule line for the store.
Launching this Saturday (25th) at DSM’s London, New York and Ginza (plus Paris Trading Museum and DSM online), the 11-piece collection is a tribute to the late Russian artist, Timur Novikov.
While Gosha’s own trajectory is an assault of multimedia – both designing and shooting his collections, casting models, producing look books and seasonal fanzines – Novikov’s career similarly incorporated painting, philosophy, graphic design and art theory.
Widely recognised as one of the leading figures in Nonconformist Art, here Timur’s ‘Horizons’ series is immortalised in cloth, the colours, lines and motifs translated by Rubchinskiy across four tees, three sweats and four caps.
Get it while (when) you can.
