GCDS Celebrate Pasta and All Things Italy With Barilla

Made-in-Italy-light...

It turns out God Can’t Destroy Streetwear or good pasta for that matter. Following on from a highly successful, collaborative collection of sweatshirts and beanies earlier this year, the Milanese, high-octane Streetwear label GCDS has once again teamed up with Barilla, the world’s largest pasta providers.

Inspired by Douglas Sirk and Alfred Hitchcock’s use of technicolour, Nadia Lee Cohen’s short film titled Dinner’s Ready draws on the varying aspects of typical Italian life. The film pays homage to the brand’s roots and Mediterranean heritage with a celebration of food and Barilla pasta of course.

The brand takes through bricked streets, beauty salons, gritty subways, dark jazz clubs and beach highways with cornucopia of cast members including fashion heavyweights Lindsey Wixson, Awent Chuoi and Daisy Donohoe, to name a few; all culminating in a dinner party hosted by legendary Italian actress Sophia Loren.

On the casting of the Silver screen legend, Cohen said; “When I had to imagine who to choose for this cameo, from anyone in the entire world, I literally couldn’t think of anyone else but her: Sophia represents THE icon of Italian history, the 'mother of Italy' that greets her different family members, with just one simple message that everyone growing up as an Italian has heard over and over:  “Dinner’s ready! E’ pronto!”
